Sunflower #1731

Fine Art Botanical Capture

Sunflower

Botanical Identity: Sunflower — Helianthus annuus. Known for its large, vibrant blooms with a dark central disk and bright petals.

Field Journal Entry: Today, the sunflowers caught my attention with their contrasting colors. The yellow and orange blooms formed a striking palette, making them look like little suns on earth.

King James Verse: “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” — Isaiah 40:8

Fascinating Facts & Folklore: Sunflowers are known for their ability to track the sun, a phenomenon known as heliotropism. Historically, they have been symbols of adoration and loyalty.

Traditional Uses & Global Customs: Traditionally grown for their seeds, sunflowers have been an important source of oil. In some cultures, they are used in ceremonies and as a food source.

Care & Safety Cautions: Sunflowers thrive in full sunlight and are relatively easy to grow in well-drained soil. They are generally safe around pets and humans but can cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.

📍 Explorer Note: In today’s bumble I found the Sunflower near Farmers Market, NY.
